OUR STORY

Naima grew up in West and Central Africa, where she would help sell her mother’s wellness products in their family’s multiple herbal shops. After living in Libreville, Gabon, Togo, Ghana, Benin and Nigeria, she and her family settled in New York City. Although Naima loved New York’s vibrant, energetic culture she found that the negative, harmful stereotypes attached to Africa did not do justice to the rich culture that thrives on the continent. She graduated from Baruch College in New York and went on to develop her professional career as an Account Manager at Yelp and other tech companies. Eventually, Naima would combine her entrepreneurial instincts, craftsmanship of authentic wellness and beauty products, and her desire to celebrate African culture, and CAZO was born: clean, rich products inspired by her homeland, handcrafted at home in New York. Her products are an homage to her Kotokoli culture and provide a connection to Africa for her customers.
